The Details! The Details!

Sorry for the lack of details in the last few weeks.
Our ministry for our first Delhi week was working with street kids. They are to most amazing kids ever. I love them. Half the team worked with older kids and my half worked with younger ones. The place we worked was called Treasure House and it's run by an Indian YWAMer. Some of the kids are forced into begging by their parents. At night, if they don't have any money with them, they aren't allowed to go home. If they have any money, or anything that was given to them, their parents take it from them, sell it and spend the money on alcohol. But most are just there, because they don't have anyone.
The second week we went to the houses of Afgani refugees. They are all Christians, who cannot go back to Afghanistan because they are Christian. We get fed like we were never fed before and they want to learn more and more about God. We also went to a university, where all the students, but one are Muslim. We were just building relationships for this on YWAMer, who has been covertly evangelizing there. We had the most fun there, I think. The students would ask us questions, we would answer, then ask a question. They would answer, then we'd have a whole convo about their answer. It was fun.
This week, I'm not sure what we are doing, but I think we are working with Burmese refugees later this week.

I can't believe that in 8 days, I'll be back in LA. It's crazy. I know this sounds cliche, but it seems like yesterday we landed in Kathmandu.

I Will Miss...

The adorably deplorable street children
The awesome Nepalis
The amazing tastes of Nepal and Inida
The ministries we've worked with
Crossing the street like I have a death wish
Blogging from a sketchily random internet cafe

Looking Foward To...

In-N-Out
Starbucks
English
My family
My dog
No trash in the streets
No packs of stray dogs barking at you for walking past
No random creeper men gawking at you
AC in EVERY building you walk into
Not sketch Subways
Personal space
Pens that don't run out of ink the second you buy them

And Now, Delhi

We are now in Delhi. This was technically our first day of ministry. We are working with kids who are beggars. Some of them, we've seen at this shopping center/food court thingy. They are really sweet.

I have a cold and I feel like I've been ramming my face against a wall for the last day and a half.

That's all for now.

This Week On...My Life, My World: The Blog of a Girl Who is Currently in India

This week has been the hardest of the last three weeks. Our ministry was working with Mother Teresa Ministries. The girls of Eagle Eagle Condor went to Shanti Dan, a home for mentally disabled women and girls, while the guys worked with destitute and dying men. Shanti Dan was hard simply because they have a lot of people, but not many workers. If they had more workers, they might be able to work with the girls that have a lot of potential to be something great, but to the workers that are there, it's just a paying job to them. We had to get up a 5 every morning, because the Mother House is on the other side of town and we had to be there by 7. Then we head to Shanti Dan after the sisters at the Mother House lead us in prayer to Jesus, then because they are Catholic, there was the prayer to Mary. There is a song we sang after the prayers:
We have our hope in Jesus
We have our hope in Jesus
That all things will be well
That all things will be well
That all things will be well
In the Lord.

Sounds like it should be upbeat and joyful, right? Well, we all sound like a bunch of depressed freaks. Then we head out to our different houses.

I became especially attached to 4 girls, Josephine, Aasha, Maria, and Nilima. I got to feed Nilima pretty much every day except the last day. The other three girls are more independent and able to feed themselves and walk. The entire girls’ floor, which was where we were working, was amazing, simply because, the girls have so much joy.

We only did half days, but we were still beat by the time we got home.
The bus drivers become completely insane during the afternoon, so coming home on a crowded bus is fun. No sarcasm.

So far, I have bought some awesome stuff here. I got sari fabric, but I'm not getting a sari made, mostly because I don't really want to show off my not so attractive bare midriff. So I'm bringing it home and I'm going to make a dress out of it. I also bought a skirt, and bangles, and earrings. I also bought 5 tubes of henna, which they call mahindi. Despite the small amount that I bought, it will last forever. I've also had it done on my hands four times. I got it done today and on Thursday, on both hands and on both sides of my right hand. It's super cool and very pretty. I wanted to buy and anklet, but compared to the women over here, I have fat ankles. :)

Sunday, half the team leaves for Delhi and then on Monday, the other half. We are working with a guy called Greg Watts, and maybe some random dude that Aush met on the street called Moses. I don't have a lot of details, so I can't give you any.

This concludes this week’s episode of, My Life, My World: The Blog of a Girl Who is Currently in India.

Finally Current

This week was amazing. Eagle Strike went back to Santipar and once again we dropped the gospel like it was hot and we were totally hot sauce. We got 4 more salvations!

A little bit about Dora and Sanatan's ministry:

They run a small school for younger children who aren't allowed to go to public school because of age or money reasons. They also evangelize. They have endured the loss of family and friends, simply because they became Christians. They are an amazing couple.

I'm including Dora and Sanatan's adress so if you want to send them money or school supplies, you can.

Light of Hop Children's MInistry
9 NO-Shanti Park
Kolkata 700152
India

If you want to send them anything in a pakage, use a not so nice looking box, to help ensure that it will not be tampered with. If you want to send school supplies, such as books for younger children to aid in the learning of English, make sure they're nicer (new or gently used and up to date). If you want to send money, send cash, not a check, so that's it's easier for them to exchange it and use it. Also send it in a security envelope.

Also pray that Blessing will be able to get into a Christian school, here in Kolkata. Dora doesn't want her to go to a Hindu school, which most of the public schools here are. The administrators at the Christian school do not want to admit Blessing because it is already three weeks into the shcool year.

Sorry for the Interrrupt

Ok, so last week, I had to leave the Internet cafe, since the hour was up.

So Eagle Strike went to a village called Santipar. We worked with a lovely couple named Dora and Sanatan. The have to four year old daughter named Blessing. They are one of two Christian families in the village. We went on house visits where we dropped the gospel and we got a salvation out of it. So exciting!!!!!!
